Background — Not one movement but eight arguments, sharing only the conviction that the Integration is something to be refused rather than optimized. They disagree with each other more sharply than they disagree with anyone else.
The Unintegrated

Background — Colonists with weapons and a duty roster. On Saluvane that is the entire defense establishment.

Background — A university on an agrarian frontier colony. Its existence says more about what the colony intends to become than about what it currently is.

Background — Always open, which on Orith Vale is a statement about who needs banking and at what hour. Anything in physical chips waits for someone with authority.

Background — A resource conglomerate that does its work in an office tower rather than on a moon. Strategic Analysis on the twenty-second floor decides which moons the work happens on.
Markov Protectorate
Background — Proof that human space was never one thing. The Protectorate had borders and soldiers before the Integration arrived and did not stop having them afterward.
Fringe Express
Background — In the absence of faster-than-light communication, correspondence has a crew. Fringe Express moves it on schedule, and moves other things because the captains were already going.
Helix Colonial Survey
Background — The organization that had people standing in an Architect site when the Integration switched on. Everything Helix is now is downstream of that accident of scheduling.
Integration Assessment Office (IAO)
Background — The institution that writes down what the Integration did to people. It has no fleet and very little money, and it holds the only comprehensive list of who is what.
House Rhyssen
Background — A name on a claim, asserted at distance against corporations already on the ground. Whether anything stands behind the name has not been established.
House Tyveren
Background — A household that has stopped growing and knows it. What Tyveren still owns is the right to grant permission, and it is selling that right by the charter.
House Veldrath
Background — Fourteen systems held by a family rather than a government. The distinction matters less than outsiders expect and more than residents can afford to say.
Midveil-Soros
Background — Six people, well-equipped, working for someone who paid to stay unnamed. The equipment says frontier corporate. It does not say which one.
