Reading Now

One reason I created Book Battles(see my author site if you don't follow them), is to get me back into reading current works.

Yesterday, I finished He Who Fights Monsters book 10 and am bravely pushing on to book 11 in the series. While I enjoy the story, I feel it is starting to get a little redundant, which is always a risk with LitRPG. I had similar thoughts with Dungeon Crawler Carl around book six or seven.

Listening to Dungeon Bound 2 by Bastian Knight. Reading Light's Ascension by Seth Ring (Exilian Book 5)

How does the Exilian series compare to the Iron Prince series by Bryce O'Connor and Luke Chmilenko? (Amazon)?

Wildly different in tone and synthesis from the synopsis. I haven't read the Iron Prince series, though it seems wildly similar in texture to the Iron Tyrant series by Seth Ring. Settings and mechanics are all very different if amon the same premise as infinite growth.

The Exilian Cycle is very much the story of a young man in the wrong place at the wrong time, and how he changes everything.

It's solid superhero fiction grounded in character study.

Iron Tyrant on the other hand is wildly different. Progression and growth are slower through book 3 when things take an unforseen swing that sets up the back half of the series to just explode in possibility.

Iron Prince is more outcast being handed unlimited growth and has to overcome the put-downs of youth. Book 2 was better than book 1, but you wouldn't understand what's going on if you tried to jump straight into book 2. Book 3 comes out "soon". I'll read it, but then I think I'm done with the series. Similar thoughts on He Who Fights Monsters. Once you get to infinite power, it seems a little boring.

It's pretty hard to scale challenge at that level, I do agree.
